Spring Events in Southeast Texas — Festivals, Markets & Community Gatherings (2026)

Spring is Southeast Texas's best season, and the region fills its calendar with festivals, outdoor markets, community events, and celebrations from March through May. Here's what to look forward to.

Spring is when Southeast Texas really comes alive. After the mild but damp Gulf Coast winter, March through May brings ideal outdoor weather — warm but not yet brutal, with the azaleas blooming across Beaumont's residential neighborhoods and the birding at its peak as millions of migratory songbirds pass through the region on their way north. It's also when the community events calendar fills up with festivals, markets, outdoor concerts, and celebrations that reflect the full cultural richness of SETX. This guide covers what to look forward to in Spring 2026.

Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas

Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas (held in Beaumont in late February/early March) is one of the region's largest annual events — and one of the biggest Mardi Gras celebrations outside of New Orleans. Parades, live music, food, and community parties reflect the deep Cajun cultural roots of the Golden Triangle.

It's a real festival, not a token one — expect multi-day programming and crowd energy to match. See the Events calendar.

Azalea Trail in Beaumont

The Beaumont Azalea Trail is a self-guided driving tour through the historic neighborhoods of South Beaumont where hundreds of azalea plantings create a spectacular floral display in late March. Home tours, garden events, and community gatherings have grown around the azalea season for decades.

If you're new to Beaumont, spending a weekend afternoon driving the Azalea Trail is one of the best introductions to the city's historic residential character.

Birding Festivals — The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail

Southeast Texas sits on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, and spring birding events draw visitors from across the country. High Island (on the Bolivar Peninsula, accessible from SETX via Highway 87) is internationally famous among birders as a "fallout" location where exhausted migratory birds land in massive numbers after crossing the Gulf.

Beyond High Island, Cattail Marsh in Beaumont and the Big Thicket National Preserve offer excellent spring birding. See the Entertainment & Recreation category.

Community Markets & Outdoor Gatherings

Spring farmers markets, craft fairs, and community markets operate across the Golden Triangle. Schedules and locations vary by city, but Beaumont, Port Arthur, and the surrounding Mid-County cities all host regular outdoor markets during spring.

Check Facebook and local community calendars for specific dates. See the Beaumont city page.

Sports Events & Recreation

Spring brings high school track and field district championships, youth sports tournaments that pull families from across SETX, fishing tournaments on Sabine Lake and Sam Rayburn Reservoir, and community recreational events of every flavor. See the Entertainment & Recreation category and the Port Arthur city page.
